Why throw that in, when you now found the same thing if Open source? Could it be that people actually WANT convenience? If done right, video chat would add nothing to the size of the executable, unless or until the user chose to run it. (Not that I suspect they will do it right). It does become an huge attack vector, but being open source you should be able to double check how this is done and if it is done securely. What I doubt is this nonsense about not having to register with a service. You can not magically just find a remote IP address to route your video connection to, without a third party.
