I need to set up an e-mail server, and this is for use with QA to test in-house software. The mail server is not to actually send mail, but be a dead end. (all mail accounts sending e-mail wont get errors, but nothing will leave the box)
The real question is: what is supposed to happen with the mail? Should it all be dumped into an/several account(s) on the server or simply redirected to /dev/null?
I have the basic of opensuse 10.3 with mail options with Postfix running. Also webmin to help administer the box.
I have never configured a mail server for something like this, and I don;'t know enough about this to do it on my own here. Any help would be much appreciated!
I need some more details: - what exactly should happen with the mail? - is the server reachable through the internet? - are the clients trusted/do they have to authenticate to submit mails? - are all these mails for some domains or do you have to accept mails for all destinations? Do you have to check the mails later? That would require some imap/pop3 server, too. -- Sandy List replies only please!
