Actually what SuSe and RedHat do is apply the patches to these kernel's from the newer ones that they believe are most important for us. So in reality the 2.6.8-24.11 is very similar to the 2.6.10 found on kernel.org. Just the version number is different. When SuSe 9.3 comes out they will include a newer kernel version.
