Thanks all for the information about the latest Skype. Stood under the impression that as in the past, Skype itself would inform the user that a new version is available. Seems to have changed. On Tuesday December 8 2009 13:58:18 Peter Hoyer wrote:

On my fully updated 11.1 running KDE or Enlightment, I ran yesterday into a problem with Skype. As I am trying to read a chat Skype ends without notice in KDE and with the information that it quits with an unknown error in Enlightment. My Skype version is 2.0.0.72. Talking and as far as I know all other functions work as always. Anybody else with this behavior?
My system is openSUSE 11.2 KDE 4.3.4
I had the same problem with chats and installed than skype 2.1 beta from skype.com. This version is specifically for OS 11.1+. On 11.1 I had sound problems with this skype version and staid to 2.0. On OS 11.2 it works fine.
Kind regards
Peter
