I'm a newbie too, but with help of some of the people on this mailing list I can connect to my ISP with either a chat script or kppp! First, when using kpp make sure the etc/ppp/options file is empty. kppp will not work right if this file has the entry "lock" , also make sure you set your ISP's name server and i.p. numbers using YAST (under system administration/network configuration/configuration nameserver) don't edit the usr/sbin/resolve.conf directly yourself, ignor the FAQs and HOWTOS on that. Also KDE has a pretty good help page for kpp at <A HREF="http://www.kde.org/documentation/en/applications/kppp/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.kde.org/documentation/en/applications/kppp/index.html</A">http://www.kde.org/documentation/en/applications/kppp/index.html</A</A>> Hope this helps Kristian Farren Lawrence Sayre wrote:
I'm using kppp (under KDE) in SuSE 5.2 to try and log onto the net (using PAP), but every time I connect I get a message saying 'pppd' crashed suddenly (or something to this effect). Any ideas?
PS: I'm a newbie, and havn't been able to log onto the net at all under Linux. I configured (using YaST) my ISP information, for those who will ask this...
