My experience with off-brand display monitors has been dismal. I would be especially cautious about larger format displays, as I find tube curvature especially distracting. Also, take careful note to make certain that the dot pitch (or aperture grille pitch in 'trinitron type') displays is nice and tight, like dp <=.28 or aperture =.25mm). Another caveat would be to make certain that the display can deal gracefully with higher resolutions at reasonable refresh frequencies. Why have a 17" display that will only do 1024x768 at 60Hz? BTW, I note that the MAG DJ702e 17" ($266.25 in the latest CDW catalog) will only do 1024x768 at 60Hz. I buy Sonys and NECs and have been very satisfied with them. I note that the same CDW catalog offers a Sony Multiscan 200ES (.25mm aperture grille pitch Trinitron, 1024x768@85Hz) for $449.08. I'd see buying the MAG as a waste of 600f the cash required to get what I really need. In fact, I'd rather buy a Sony 100ES 15" for $267.42 than the MAG 17" for $266.25. YMMV, phil -- Some goals are so worthy, it's glorious even to fail. Bo Rosén wrote:
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this cheapo 17" monitor ? I need a new one (I have an ancient 14" one)
