Hi, If you want no memory usage worth mentioning, you'll have to kill virtually everything. SuSE doesn't like having certain packages killed, so I'd look for an alternative. You could probably get away with it but you'll need some 'deep wizardry' to get it to work from what I can see. NOTE: Parallel ports are pretty crappy for timing events! A specialist I/O card driven via interrupts and/or external timing system with a serial interface might do better.
