I used YaST -> Network Services -> Samba Server to configure samba. Under Identity -> Advanced Settings -> Expert Global Settings, I set
interfaces = 192.168.10.10 os level = 65
then started up samba.
Unfortunately, the interface is on 192.168.1.10, a simple typo I made. So I corrected it. I still get errors in the system log saying
Sep 18 11:32:01 tux nmbd[5413]: [2005/09/18 11:32:01, 0] nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:get_domain_master_name_node_status_fail(488) Sep 18 11:32:01 tux nmbd[5413]: get_domain_master_name_node_status_fail: Sep 18 11:32:01 tux nmbd[5413]: Doing a node status request to the domain master browser at IP 192.168.10.10 failed. Sep 18 11:32:01 tux nmbd[5413]: Cannot get workgroup name. Where does samba remember the old value? and why is it still using it? I re-started samba, I re-booted the system, yet the error persists. /etc/samba/smb.conf shows the correct values (192.168.1.10).
Thanks
Peter
You might have a look at /etc/samba/lmhosts
