All right, after a new dl, it worked to install it. As far as I can see, it was only the setup which should have been renamed to setup.ins (?!?!) I installed it to /opt/openoffice, to make sure that every user can run it. This works as well, but you cannot save settings, since OO tries to do this in the opt directory - neither does a user have write access to this directory nor does it make sense. Please don't tell me that the only way to make it work is installing it in every single home directory consuming 240 MB each. That's the way I had it with StarOffice, and I would rather leave this way [if this is possible :-) ]
Well, StarOffice has install options for standalone and net installation. The net installation is what you want! :-) So, maybe you can also choose between standalone or net as well as with OpenOffice. I don't know it by sure because I never installed OpenOffice but StarOffice. Best regards, Ming-Che -- ICQ#: 126097979
