I couldn't find a line that said "export $WINDOWMAKER" so I put it in front of one that says "exec SWINDOWMAKER"
Yep, exec - yet another hurried mistake on my part.
That gives me full screen mode and also gives me the 3DFX splashscreen when I start any of the 3d stuff. Unfortunately they all then jump into a screen full of diagonal lines and hang there. I've tried changing the screen resolution up and down but none makes any differnce. I've also cold rebooted several times.
I've also noticed that SAX always auto-detects the card's memory at too low a value and I have to reset it using expert mode.
Other than those thoughts I can't think what to do next, any ideas ?
I've had that screen problem sometimes when exiting a program and have had to switch to a console and kill the xserver. However I don't think I know what to do. I have noticed that xf86config does a slightly better job of configuring my xserver than does SaX (SaX uses the wrong modelines for my monitor), though I don't think that's the problem. I'm stumped, you might try reposting this to see if you can get anyone else to join in, or go to the Mesa website and see if they have any suggestions. Sorry I can't do any more. Keep me posted.
