This past weekend I installed openSUSE 10.2 on a new Dell Dimension E520.
Me, too. Nice machine.
So far everything works fairly well - except for the onboard audio which I can't get to work.
Can't get to work, or is muted? Check to be sure.
This is a Dell HD Audio Controller which the installer recognized and loaded the snd_hda_intel module, but the beast won't make a sound.
You won't get a whole lot of support from the default SuSE kernel... that HD Audio controller is very new. If you want all the audio sources to show up (rather than the simple analog out the mixer makes available by default), you'll want to install the beta ALSA drivers. Not the utilities, not the libraries, JUST the drivers. -- Marc Wilson | A transistor protected by a fast-acting fuse will msw@cox.net | protect the fuse by blowing first. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
