Well, I'm not sure what you would need with Java for using an office package, but as far as OpenOffice/StarOffice 6.0 are concerned..they are not build with Java support yet. I read in a FAQ some months ago that they have a routine in the install script for it..but if you try to install with it then it has a 50-70% failure rate on installing the whole suite. Try doing the newest OpenOffice install w/ out telling it anything about Java.
