Hi, I have an old 486, with minimum ram and hard drive space, and I would like to compile a kernel for it on my pentium. My first attempt was tested and the kernel just stopped loading midway and rebooted. On another attempt, it stopped during boot, and said it could'nt open the display. What considerations do you have to keep in mind when compiling for a different machine? How important is the system.map file; and can the system map compiled on the pentium, be transferred to the 486? zentara -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
