We are definately using different package management tools. This is 10.3 right?
From KDE I do "alt-F2" "kdesu yast2" Click on Software Management,

So, yes, I suppose we're using different UIs. I can't even seem to make firefox.com offer me a 32bit download :( I tried, and when I ran the result, it announces itself as 64bit!
