OS: SuSe 10.0 I have been experimenting with the new Tandberg RDX QuickStore, formatting an ext3 filesystem with encryption. It is a USB attached so I simply removed and reinserted it and it had detected and apparently crested devices /dev/sdc and /dev/sdc1 (whereas it was originally /dev/sdb and sdb1) and showed up with in a "df -v" listing as /dev/loop0 /media/usbdisk I tried doing a manual mount using both /dev/loop-and /dev/sdc1 but received the following errors: Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: Vendor: TANDBERG Model: RDX Rev: 2021 Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sdc at scsi4, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Oct 6 20:31:07 <hostname> kernel: Attached scsi generic sg2 at scsi4, channel 0, id 0, lun 0, type 0 Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Spinning up disk.....<5>sdc: Spinning up disk....ready Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:31:26 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: scsi3 (0:0): rejecting I/O to dead device Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 0 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: scsi3 (0:0): rejecting I/O to dead device Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 0 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device loop0, logical block 0 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: scsi3 (0:0): rejecting I/O to dead device Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 1 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 2 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 3 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 4 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 5 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 6 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdb1, logical block 7 Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> kernel: scsi3 (0:0): rejecting I/O to dead device Oct 6 20:33:10 <hostname> last message repeated 10 times Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Spinning up disk.....<5>sdc: Spinning up disk....ready Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: SCSI device sdc: 156293296 512-byte hdwr sectors (80022 MB) Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: sdc: Write Protect is off Oct 6 20:34:08 <hostname> kernel: sdc: assuming drive cache: write through Oct 6 20:51:03 <hostname> kernel: FAT: invalid media value (0xf3) Oct 6 20:51:03 <hostname> kernel: HFS+-fs: unable to find HFS+ superblock Oct 6 20:51:17 <hostname> kernel: VFS: Can't find ext3 filesystem on dev sdc1. Any idea what I need to do to mount this or at least get to the point where I can reformat it. Finally, what did I do wrong?
