OK, who stuffed up the Search Engines facility in FF 36.0?
In previous versions one could select a Search Engine from a drop-down menu but now this option is gone.
Anybody know of a quick fix for this new "improvement" in FF 36.0, please?

Hi Set the default in preferences, or start typing and select the search engine.
I got this bit right before posting my query. But this doesn't make sense and not intuitive - you have to now go to two different places for no real reason where before choosing and customising the engines was done in the one spot. Some developers require psychological tests I am pretty sure before they are allowed to be let loose on applications.
