Hello listmates,
Do you know if Gnome puts hard links into trash? The reason I am asking this question is that I have a suspicion that in some instances emptying trash lead to non-trash items being deleted.
I have no idea.
Even if it did use (or include) hard links, a delete of a hard link does not delete the target file, until the last hard link is deleted.
But it is a common trick to create a hard-link to a file and then unlink the original path. Then when you delete the 'trashed' link the file is removed. -- Adam Tauno Williams <awilliam@whitemice.org> LPIC-1, Novell CLA <http://www.whitemiceconsulting.com> OpenGroupware, Cyrus IMAPd, Postfix, OpenLDAP, Samba -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
