Hi, for what its worth, i upgraded an oracle 9i server running 7.2 to 8.0 last night. So far, everything( including oracle) seems to be running fine - the only issue i have noticed is the login manager seems to disregard my settings and the login screen only allows me to logon to kde ( no session box appears).

Hi,
Here is a direct 'cut-n-paste' from a SuSE Support email reply:
"The upgrade of 7.2 to 8.0 is neither supported nor recommended by SuSE."
Well I upgraded to 7.3, and then tried the 8 upgrade and still had the same problems.
I guess a clean install is in the works :-(
the experience of a lot of people is that the upgrade feature hardly works.... clean install is what works ... that is a major problem
