There ARE some games....I forget what they are called... phillip mannie wrote:
Me, too!
If Dee and I are any indication LINUX users in Alaska are also still waiting for 5.3...the machine upon which I write is 5.0 (works so well I've been reluctant to change) and I'm on 5.2 at work (everything worked first time and it provides valuable LAN services like a mirroring nameserver for the company LAN, intranet server, samba and a pleasant environment for me) all at the same time on a 486/133.
As far as sound goes I'm ambivalent; if I really want to listen to music I use a specialized system (which I call the STEREO) to play CDs (and even LPs). I've had RealAudio working on the 5.0 box, but since I only use it for listening to the Hour of Slack when the last real-beta I had expired I haven't bothered with it since. The w95 box (via squid) allows me the minimal web audio I need. Maybe 5.3 will present the challange I need to make me care about computer audio.
If audio is really broken in 5.3 I remain confident that we can fix it. I've pretty much resolved that I'm going to update the 5.0 box with 5.3 and will remain steadfast in this resolution; after all, if I wanted a computer that worked perfectly I'd install...gee, what would I install?
I don't play Quake or other computer games: the best game in town is making the computer do what you want it to.

I agree with you on this. Something along these lines was also written in the Linux Journal. Users/developers should work collaboratively to put together a superior distribution, instead of getting upset and marching off. Subsribers to this list and SuSE users in general help to identify problems with the distribution and historically, SuSE has been quick in getting the problem taken care of and available for ftp from their site. I haen't received my 5.3 yet :(, but I am definately looking forward to it.
