Dear all
I have looked through the archives from November 2005 and cannot see this question. I would be grateful for any help to correct the problem.
I cannot now use any of the extensions to Firefox 1.5.0.1 I was happily using until a week ago. I did have a power cut which might have caused a problem. It would appear from the error message that I have deleted a file and wonder if it is on my installation disc somewhere. I have 5 discs from the Linux Format Special edition of SuSE 10.0.
The message is: "Item Uninstalled via file removal from: rel%tango@novell.com Item ID: tango@novell.com Location Key: app-global, uninstalling item."
and there are several messages (for each extension) as follows: "No chrome package registered for chrome://webdeveloper/content/images/logo.png ."
and there is another:
"Error: installLocation has no properties Source File: file:///opt/firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js Line: 3233"
and line 3233ff is as follows: " if (installLocation.name in StartupCache.entries && item.id in StartupCache.entries[installLocation.name] &&
StartupCache.entries[installLocation.name][item.id]) { var op = StartupCache.entries[installLocation.name][item.id].op; if (op == OP_NEEDS_INSTALL || op == OP_NEEDS_UPGRADE || op == OP_NEEDS_UNINSTALL || op == OP_NEEDS_DISABLE) continue; } "
Thank you.
Extensions are not that critical- you can reinstall them whenever you want from the Mozilla site. So, why not simply reinstall Firefox? Go to Yast Control Center/Software/Software Manager and install FF. The only thing you may want to do before doing this is to copy your bookmarks.html to copy them back after FF is installed. Also, take a (written) note of what your login names and passwords are for various sites, if you do have them setup this way (ie FF to remember these details) so that you can logon to those sites without going thru the "Forgotten Your Password?" process. BTW, v1.5.0.1 is way out of date. Use 1.5.0.6 which contains security fixes and should now be used. Cheers. -- This computer is environment-friendly and is running on OpenSuSE 10.1
