I can't seem to get the network printer configured. We have a NDPS printing setup. I seems simple in Yast, but it needs a print server IP address, and I have no idea how get that (our IT department doesn't even know, go figure). Any ideas on how I can figure out the IP for the Novell print server that I am using from windows. It is not shown anywhere in the printer configuration.
If the printer has a DNS entry that is the same as it's network name, you could try nslookup name
My company uses a proxy server for internet browsing, and that is the only way out. You have to be authorised to use the internet though, and this is done when you log into the Novell Network. Since I don't log on to the Novell Network in Linux, I am not authorised, and the proxy kicks me out. Any ideas about this?
What browser do you use? You should have the option to provide a username and password for the proxy... I use Galeon, and although I don't need a username/password for my squid box, I could provide one in the GNOME Proxy settings...
The third was mail. We are using Groupwise, which only works with Groupwise clients. Luckily Groupwise Linux client just went into Beta testing, and I'm trying it out now. Couldn't get it to work yet though.
If it really really does only work with the Groupwise client, you'll have to wait till it works :) Of course, with all these things, remember that Novell recently bought Ximian, which means a Linux-desktop focus from them now.
