During the final bit of the install I noticed that YaST did not correctly identify my monitor and made it a VESA 1024X768 display. My monitor is not listed in the YaST configuration as well.
It should still fill the entire screen even if it is running at a lower resolution than the max for your monitor (even if it is a 16:9 monitor running at a 4:3 resolution).
Ok enough background. I am worried that I am missing something here. I did NOT install the NVidia driver since YaST picked up the Graphics card. My gut feel is that this is a Video driver issue.
However I am not sure. I do have the NVidia Driver on a DVD. It came with some Linux magazine. Should I install these?
There are a couple of things you can try. If you want to keep using the open source nv driver, I would suggest launching SAX2 and verifying the settings there... look at what is offered, make any changes needed, and then test. The test mode will allow you to adjust the positioning, width, height etc. If you can use the nVidia binary drivers, you will probably find that the problem will go away. I would suggest you download the latest drivers (the one's on a Linux magazine DVD will be outdated), or add the nVidia repository (the best solution).
