Hi,
i found a different at my systems:
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
desktop has here DISPLAYMANAGER="sddm" laptop has here DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"
That method is deprecated, changes there would do nothing. <https://doc.opensuse.org/release-notes/x86_64/openSUSE/Leap/15.0/index.html> Seek this section: 5.2 Use update-alternatives to Set Login Manager and Desktop Session YaST has an optional module to check/change alternatives. I have not verified this currently, but in the past changing the display manager while one was running was problematic: on restart of the service, it would try to close the new one, while the old one was running, not the new one, and then try to start the new one, conflicting with the old one still running. The trick, back then, was to do the change on runlevel 3. Or to reboot. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
