But on Firefox on my phone, the same syntax does not work and does a google search instead. I can not find my own server on IPv6 from outside.
If you have an Android phone, it won't work with DHCPv6.
Why not? It gets an IPv6 address.
For some reason, Android only supports stateless autoconfig, not DHCPv6. AFAIR, the ICMPv6 Router Advertisement isn't processed correctly, but I have not looked at this for over ten years.
Mind: When I have said in this thread "dhcp" in this thread, I have no idea what protocol my router actually uses to hand over automatically IPv6 address and routes and whatever. I said dhcp because that is the only method I know.
I'll venture a guess and say it is most likely not DHCPv6. There _are_ reasons for using DHCPv6, but I doubt if any apply in a consumer setting.
The router does say DHCPv6 (stateless) and RADVD, and "MLD Snooping", whatever that is. The router config says: IPv6 LAN Auto Configuration Note: Stateful DHCPv6 is supported based on the assumption of prefix length less than 64. Interface ID does NOT support ZERO COMPRESSION "::". Please enter the complete information. For exampe: Please enter "0:0:0:2" instead of "::2".
The problem is Firefox with IPs.
What exactly is the problem you are experiencing? ISTR something about an issue wrt the device name in an address, in a URL. It's a bit hazy, I'll have to google it.
That if I write in the firefox box in Android: http://[2a02:...59cd] It tries to find that string in google, as a string. Thus I can not (yet) try reach my own server via IPv6 from outside. Maybe tethering my laptop to the phone. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)
