OK Just forget about urpmi and about the ftp site :) Yast will automatically install the appropriate kernel for your machine. Also, from yast - online update you can install automatically the updates, if you un-select the "manual" option :) OK, now, if you really insist, there is apt for suse, too :) http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Willby" <john@thewillbys.com> To: <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2003 9:47 AM Subject: [SLE] Kernel rpm was Re: [SLE] Suse 8.2 kernel recompile
Andrea, try to check if the kernel build gives you some errors. Also, I'd advise you to try with the latest/newest kernel source RPM, not with the ones on the CDs. You can find them in SuSE ftp mirrors, in the updates directory.
Hi
I noticed there are 3 rpms list for each kerenl (I assume). K_smp.rpm K_smp-*.i586.rpm and then a patch rpm.
I assume they all need to be installed.
Is there any given order in which they should be installed. I miss urpmi from Mandrake which would sort all this out for you :-) Is there anything similar in SuSE. I assume there must be someway of doing it with YaST?
