Thunderbird .. retrieving headers only if you opt to
And this is possible on a list by list basis, or is it necessary to select headers-only for all mail (simply because one or a few lists can't be like most others in preventing excessively large messages)? What about rereads? I download mail when the time is appropriate, and expect messages to pop instantly (0 latency) whether the network is up and/or properly responding, or not. FWIW, TB is was originally derived from the old Mozilla Suite (the Netscape replacement), which later became SeaMonkey. There is very little difference in the code base between TB and SM-Mail, most of which is in appearance, not function. I get 300-1000 individual emails per day. Those with attachments and fancy formatting are always unwanted. I use filters to direct some of the garbage directly to the trash, but there are simply too many filters involved when subscribing to many lists to have each and every one handled ideally. The way this list is run is definitely not one of the positives about running openSUSE. Most lists munge, but this does not. Most lists do not permit attachments, but this does. The average tone from regulars here is the worst of any list I'm on that has moderate to high volume. -- "He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty."
