Don't know about NT or 98, but in 95, had to set up the LInux Box as a proxy server in order for the win95 box to get out. I used Apache on my LInux box as a proxy server and then just set it up in my win95 box to use my Linux box as a gateway. As far as netscape goes, on win95, I set it up to use a proxy server and gave it my Linux box address using port 80. Don't have to telenet in to the linux box, the internet software handles the packets as long as tcp/ip is installed and running. lweiss wrote:
Has anyone got linux to work as a ppp server for win NT 4.0 and/or win 98. I've been beating my head against a wall on this one. PPP dials out OK and I can get the win box to login using mgetty and PAP but I can't pass packets. Who on Linux tells me I'm logged in and on the correct ttyS0 --win 98 says connected via PAP and tcp up-- BUT, NO ping or tcpip?? Getting very aggravated since I had this working on an old slackware system with win 95.
