Yepp, after I talked to him. The reason for your problem is a bug in the 11.1 boost packages that was fixed for 11.2 and that we can't really fix for 11.1 without lots of work.
What you should do would be to do
zypper rm $(rpm -qa | grep 'libboost.*1_36.*')
noting the application packages zypper will want to delete and install them new with 'zypper in'.
Sounds good - is there any reason why I wouldn't want to just use rpm to remove the package? (ie, any database considerations?)
