I don't understand all the rhetoric about ie and windoz when FireFox in Linux will do the job. I access roadrunner sites and configuration frequently w/o a problem.
I don't know about others but here are my two reasons for needing IE even in a real OS like Linux. First, some sites - particularly older ones - require ActiveX controls. If I'm to use these sites, then I need IE. In a few cases, I wrote the sites myself, so I'm the one to blame. However, there's no interest from the owners for developing a more modern solution. Second, is site cross-compatibility. I need to make sure that the sites I write work in 75% of the browsers out there. Though it is plainly stupid and risky to use IE as a primary browser, many still to. Remember those who are using ISP's such as Comcast or Roadrunner probably don't even get the chance to use a real OS (Linux) as an option. Therefore, they just promote IE and ASSume everyone will follow. I remember trying to sign my mother up on Verizon. The tech support person hadn't even heard of Linux and refused to give me any support. Fortunatly, a polite call to his superviser got me level-three people who knew what they were doing. (That's why I like my ISP. When I call for support and tell them I'm using Linux, they ask, "which distro?") -- Kai Ponte www.perfectreign.com || www.4thedadz.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request
