At this point the usual response should be to make use of YaST. The whole point to YaST is that you don't need to now how to do something, only find the menu entry in YaST to tell it to take care of the details of the getting done of that thing. As in the proverbial "Make it so!"
We really need a "repository for users howto" of the "for dummies" series, to point doug to it. Explaining all he needs to learn in a simple manner, not assuming any prior knowledge, would takes days to write, possibly beyond my skills. I love the "for dummies" book series, I'm not saying anyone is dumb. They are easy to understand and explain fully everything one needs to know about the subject.
