I've installed this program (from YaST), and am having difficulty in getting it to work. My results with it are ambiguous, as I will explain. I have not found the Manual helpful for troubleshooting. The system is openSuSE v11.2, running on a Dell Vostro laptop. Last night, I dialed the telephone of a friend, and the information area of the Twinkle window informed me that the dialed subscriber was ringing, then that it had been picked up (though I heard no sound whatever, then that the line had been released by the remote subscriber. Today I tried to reproduce the experiment, this time dialing a US number: 1(201)555-1212. I attach the entire section of the log relating to the time at which I did this. I am not able to make much of the log, which I attach herewith. Any helpful insights, especially from users of Twinkle will be gratefully received. For what it's worth, I have found that, although the logs seem to be saying that ALSA is in order (and the manual indicates that I would not be permitted to dial if there is no sound driver), the file /etc/asound.conf (mentioned in the Manual) does not exist. I do not understand this, because I am able to hear CDs. DVDs, and online sound streams. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel
