I finally got some sound out of Xine playing a DVD. In the audio menu, I unchecked "a52_pass_through", and changed the "audio driver to use" to AUTO from ALSA. Then I restarted Xine, and voila, sound. Changed back to ALSA but left a52_pass_through unchecked, and it works fine now. I googled all afternoon attempting to solve this problem, and saw no mention of this - what is a52_pass_through? Josh On Fri, 2004-01-02 at 02:44, Josh Poage wrote:
Hi all,
I mostly solved my earlier sound problems (Dell Inspiron 2650). Somehow the modem driver installation had corrupted the ALSA drivers. Once i removed and reinstalled those (from Yast2) then sound came back. However, I am unable to get any sound from DVDs in Xine. I compiled and installed the newest version from xinehq.de. Everything else plays just fine, with sound, but playing a DVD I just get picture without sound. I did install libdvdcss. What should I do? Here's the output from Xine:
