hi, i'm yet another new linux user (well, i've had red hat for about a year or two, and hardly ever used it - i got suse mainly for the great manual to get me started)
Welcome!
i can't see the whole desktop, and i have to scroll about an inch to find all of the edges. i know this can be useful, but when it's just about an inch, and all the toolbars are just out of sight, it can be very fraustrating, so i don't want any scrolling.
i've got a feeling that this is something to do with the virtual deaktop setting (i used sax to set up the x-windows). my default res. is 1024x768, and i have a virtual desktop setting of 1024x768 as well, so i can't see where the problem is. am i doing (or not doing) something wrong that is so obvious that i can't see it?
Try to press CTRL+ALT+<Plus on numeric keypad>. You should now use a higher resolution without the virtual desktop. It seems, you accidently configured more than one resulution, where the lower one seems to be used on startup. You can use SaX to reconfigure this.
