Hi all.
I have a Compaq laptop, with a modem that it's imposible to getcorrectly running under linux. I'm looking on Internet and i found that this is a Winmodem. What can i do? Are there any package to solve this kind of problems? The first thing to do is work out what the chipset of the modem is. Linmodem is like saying "PC" - it is a generic term that covers a lot of chipsets within that class.
Now then, I cannot help you on this problem, but a bit more info would be helpful for others on the list. They may need more info, and the "command outputs" I ask for below may/may not help, but I would start with this when trying to diagnose such a situation: Make: Compaq [you stated this above, good :)] Model: Output of the following commands: lspci pnpdump Hope this helps in some way :) Jon
