Not that version. You need kernel-syms 2.6.30, or 2.6.31, whatever is kernel version that you plan to use. Kernel-syms for 2.6.27 will not pull kernel -devel packages as in 2.6.27 source code contains linux-obj files, and kerenel devel packages don't exist. Kernel devs moved linux-obj to separate package somewhere during Milestones, as you have 2.6.30 you need the same version kernel-<flavor>-devel package. Where <flavor> is desktop, default, xen etc. The advice to use kernel-syms was most probably shortcut that will pull in all flavors kernel development packages and solve my compilation problem in any case. -- Regards, Rajko People of openSUSE editor.
