George, Informix told me the license charge was $250.00 a seat. Adabas D for linux is a very nice product!! I'm using Informix for a project that requires the *serial* data type (auto incrementing) which Adabas D does not have. Later Lach George Sexton wrote:
Michael,
I have downloaded and untarred. Basically it unzips into a series of tar files. The tar files contain the required files for installation. I ran the installation and it appears to work correctly but I haven't read the doc's far enough to figure out how to start the engine. FWIW, I looked at Informix's pricing. As near as I can deduce it will be about $295.00 USD per seat. This is substantially more than ~$150.00 for MS SQL Server. I think it is alot more than Interbase also. I know Sybase SQL Anywhere doesn't have a Linux version (but I suspect they soon will). Their pricing is about $80 USD Per seat.
Personally, I want to look at the 10 seat version of ADABAS and see how it works.
