If you are looking for a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combination drive your options are Ricoh, Samsung and Toshiba. (These are the OEMs, don't be surprised to find other brand names. IIRC, Memorex sells Ricoh). Another option is DVD-RAM manufactured by Panasonic, Toshiba and Hitachi. I also understand that all are supported since about kernel 2.2.15. (Again these are only the OEMs)

Any suggestions on where to buy one? My wife called elinux.com but they said there is no such a thing as a CD-RW/DVD-ROM available. Like wise they could not tell her any cd-rw that worked with SuSE, told her she had to research the SuSE web site. It's a shame, we would have purchased from them had they been able to answer any of our questions, and tell us what to buy. They had one listed for $269.00 ( QPS) on their web site, but the person talking with my wife didn't know anything about it. thanks in advance,
joe
