I have a couple of minor issues that irritate me with kde4. Does anyone know how to globally switch off grouping on the taskbar. One can do it on a temporary basis with individual programs but this is tedious. I like to see everything on the taskbar and not have to click to find out what I've got and where it is.
Right click on empty space in taskbar -> Task Manager settings -> Grouping & Sorting set to "Do Not Group"
Another thing is the virtual desktops. One can name them but there seems to be no way to display the name. So what's the point?
Right-click on the pager -> Configure Virtual Desktops -> Switching -> check "Desktop Switch On Screen Display".
I believe that is:
Right-click on the pager -> Pager Settings -> Configure Desktops
Then change the default names in the windows and click "apply"
... at least that worked for me !
Thanks guys! I thought that I had tried these things already but obviously not. So I guess the fault lies with me. However, the displaying of the names doesn't work (i.e. I can't see the desktop names, even though I have set the option as suggested) but then again maybe I've missed something else.
