Konichiwa All, Got it running last night. The NVidia drivers were not built for the 'i386' kernel and so were not being loaded when requested. I took a gamble and switched to the 'Pentium optimized' kernel (I use an Athlon), crossed my fingers and rebooted. System came up and, lo and behold, the Nvidia logo came up on screen. Ran '/usr/bin/gears' and it worked. Slotted in the Quake3 cd. Mounted it and ran it from the CD. Soon i was kicking 'Sarge's butt all over the place. Smooth as silk. Run's better than in winME. Which was a surprise to me. Message to ID : More grease to your elbow. You continue to release linux versions of your games (unlike 3Drealm's Max Payne) and we will continue to *buy* them. Nice ;-) My thanxs to you all. -- Clifford Oh No!! It's the Powerpuff girls. Curses! Curses!! Curses!!!
