Because if you don't specify a protocol, if will try to guess one, and imap is better. I guess that comcast has the imap port open, but they don't actually respond. After a timeout, fetchmail should switch to another protocol. It has happened to me before; just specify pop3 as the protocol to use. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
