Hi Steve, I don't think this is the reason of your problem but may help... Increase the number of threads for your nfs server, in /etc/rc.config: # the kernel nfs-server supports multiple server threads USE_KERNEL_NFSD_NUMBER One more idea: perhaps some clients are trying to open the same files in rw mode and the nfs/samba is trying to lock the files in the server side? Check your log files for any file lock messages. Pep Serrano. On Sunday 28 April 2002 14:01, steve wrote:
Hi everyone. Our AMD 1100 box serves a samba lan of 22 machines, some 7.3 and some w98 in a small international school. Some of the 7.3 boxes are not samba but take files via nfs. If any of the 7.3 nfs's are logged on, the samba clients slow down noticeably. This is particularly apparent when everyone wants to access the same file, e.g. at the start of a lesson. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks, Steve
