Setting up AX25?

Greetings and salutations... I'm running SuSE Linux v6.4, kernel 2.2.16. I've been trying to get AX25 set up for many months and am about to give up. I wonder if any hams out there running SuSE might be so kind as to give me a hand at getting AX25 going? I have been running TNOS v2.30 for a couple of years and it is wrought with many problems. I need to dump that in favor of the native AX25 code in Linux. I hope to eventually get netrom, Xfbb, CLX, and other applications running on my system. Can you help?
