Ops, forgot about the solution :) Short answer - I used partimage from a Knoppix disk to make an image of the ntfs partition, and then restored on the new drive. Long answer: look in the list archives for thread with subject "partition copy" started by me. After a few suggestions, I have posted [Solved] reply with full description what I did.
