In SuSE 9.1, Yast launches OK but when I click on [Install and Remove Software] that screen comes up for a split second and then disappears.
What might cause that?
I switched off some source directories and it started working again. I haven't done it yet but I should switch them back on one at a time to determine which one (or more?) has the dud content.
IMHO Yast needs to generate an error rather than just going away.
YaST will generate quite a few messages, both errors and otherwise, in /var/log/YaST2/y2log But in general, as it sounds like yast sw_install is crashing badly, it is difficult to generate error messages when you experience a crash. In some cases you can do what e.g. KDE does and install a general signal handler for some common crashes, like segmentation fault, but sometimes the crash is too severe
