[opensuse] Configuring for new HD monitor

Forgot to mention. It's an LG W2353G, which of course is not listed in SAX2. I'm trying to change my monitor from a VGA LCD monitor to an HD 1080p one. I have an NVidea GeForce 7300 GS video card. When I try to enable the HD monitor, using the NVidea utility, I get an error message that it cannot save the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup. It makes no difference whether or not I tell it to merge with the existing file. Any way around this?
