Can you print something simple like a small text file from kedit?
Yes, I've forget to comment that I've done an lpr filename.txt with a plain-text file and it works fine. The trouble seems to be when the file is a postscript that must be filtered to be translated to printer language.
It's odd that a test page would work, but other applicatiosn would not. Hmmmm.
Truly. The test page seems to be the only PS file that's printed. I've tried to print it manually by 'lpr /usr/share/cups/data/testprint.ps' and it has been printed also; but any other PS files that I've tried fails. They are well visualized with PS-Viewer and there's no errors in the logs. I've used this printer with prior versions of SuSE LiNUX without troubles. 7.2 is giving me one headache after other. Thanks,

Hi there,
This is the environment under that such paranormal success occurs:
- Epson Stylus Color 440 plugged to pararell port - SuSE 7.2 proffesional - Cups 1.1.6-52 (*)
(*) The one which mentioned distribution carries.
I've configured the printer under CUPS with the Epson Stylus Color filter.
Test page is printed perfectly.
Any other file are not printed.
(What a testpage!!!)
I've tried to print a file from StarOffice and it did NOT work. Yes, I've configured StarOffice printer previously to use the one cups serves. I've then used "print to a file" StarOffice feature and obtain a postscript file that I've tried to print by 'lpr file.ps' but it has not work. I've tried also to send the file through "kups" to the printer, but nothing happens.
In cups log I've seen the following:
I [17/Dec/2001:11:40:08 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 809) for job 15. I [17/Dec/2001:11:40:08 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster (PID 810) for job 15. I [17/Dec/2001:11:40:08 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoepson (PID 811) for job 15. I [17/Dec/2001:11:40:08 +0100] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel (PID 812) for job 15.I
So I think the trouble may be in some of these filtering processes, but cannot say where.
I've tried changing printer parameters randomly, but I've no obtain right results (it does NOT print or it does print trash).
The strange thing is that Test page is perfectly printed...
Any hint?
TIA
