I had heard that if /boot was benieth the 1024 cylinder limit everything would be OK. It boots from a disk and runs great, but I can't get it to boot off the HD. The new HD is a UDMA 66 type.
Sounds like a misconfiguration with lilo. Did you make the HD bootable? might have said no somplace where you should have said yes. 1. Get the system up and use cfdisk to look at the bootable flag for the first partition. Turn it ON if it is off. Be very careful with cfdisk! Look at /etc/lilo.conf it should say "boot=/dev/hda linear" in the first few lines. Rerun /sbin/lilo <ctrl><alt><del> 2. If that does not work use YaST.. choose <System Administration> <Kernel and boot configuration> <LILO configuration> Read carefully.. but you cannot wreck anything, so be cool :) Have a lot of fun :) Regards, -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
