Good day Jim,
How do I tell SuSE that my screen is 12 inch? It seems to default to 15". When I connect my 12" all I get on the screen is green and white lines. The boot screen shows fine. I guess I need to give a command at the boot screen, but what? I'm running 8.1.
I'm sorry, I didn't make myself understood. I do use X at all on this system. After the boot screen (which works) I get only green & white lines. When I switch to another screen there is only a white line at the top where the log in should be.
You are NOT using X at all. And the boot text looks fine as it scrolls over the screen, but once you get to the text logon prompt your screen is messed up? It still could sound as if something is out of order with your setup of your monitor refresh rate in relation to your graphics card. Although it is spooky that the screen looks fine as long as text is scrolling over it. Can you blindly log in as root and start yast? (Once it is started you can quit it pressing the Tab key twize and the Enter key once.) Will yast display properly? Best regards :o) Johnny :o) P.S. Do not reply to me directly. I am on the mailing list.
