[S.u.S.E. Linux] Can you use a hyphen in a username?

Hi, again! Helped a lot the last time! Thanks! Can you create a user called kill-9 in 5.2 version? I mean I can create it but then I can not login with that username. All I get is the next empty login prompt ( never asked for the passwd). I was able to use that username with the RedHat with no problems for instance.
