Adding to what S. Toms said - I just finished upgrading to 2.2.7 and took the OPL3-SA kernel sound option... The OSS sound from 4Front is easier to adjust and, after playing a few minutes of Holst - The planets, I would say 4Front sounds better. (I even activated the OSS wavetable in the kernel).
